Lane Shark FAQ
Lane Shark support is here to offer real-time solutions to any and all questions or concerns regarding any of our Lane Shark products to help you get the most out of your purchase.
Before You Buy
Your tractor must have a minimum hydraulic pump flow of 5gpm, a minimum dry weight of 2,000lbs, and a minimum width of 55" for use with the Lane Shark.
When determining if Lane Shark will work on your tractor, horsepower is not so much important as is the GPM. Generally speaking, the LS3 is suited for tractors with 25 to 40 hp, but more importantly, a range of 5 to 8 1/2 gpm, and the LS2 is suited for tractors from 40 hp to 100 hp and a range of 8 1/2 to 20 gpm.
Pump flow is only one of three determining factors when determining if your tractor is Lane Shark compatible. Your tractor must also be a minimum of 2000 pounds (dry weight) and have a minimum rear wheel width of 55".
The tractor will need to be equipped with a 3rd function, rear remote valve, or our valve kit (select tractors only).
The Lane Shark is able to cut up to 3’’ brush.
No. Lane Sharks are not designed to be operated by skid steers. This is a safety hazard and will void your Lane Shark’s Warranty.
A cabbed tractor is recommended but not required. The counterclockwise rotation of the Lane Shark’s blades throws debris down and away from the operator. It is always recommended to wear the proper PPE while operating the Lane Shark.
The Lane Shark arrives fully assembled but does not include any of the necessary hydraulic components to plumb the Lane Shark to your tractor.
NO! The return from the Lane Shark MUST be plumbed directly to the sump of your tractor. Failure to do so will result in damage to the tractor and Lane Shark.
No. Diverter valves are not compatible with the Lane Shark. You must use a 3rd function or rear remote valve.
No. The high capacity motor is simply designed to accommodate a higher pump flow.
Yes, the Lane Shark use the tractor's hydraulics while the rear Bush Hog is powered by the tractor's PTO.
We always recommend working through a Lane Shark dealer for your purchase to ensure correct installation and maintenance. You may purchase directly from Lane Shark if you are outside of an authorized dealer's territory.
Hydraulics
You don't NEED one of our hydraulic kits if you have auxiliary hydraulics on your tractor, however they can provide necessary components to install and operate your Lane Shark.
Lane Shark Valve Kits are specifically designed for select tractors within the Kubota L Series, MX Series, and John Deere 3 Series. It is an affordable alternative to installing a third function.
WR Long C-Flow Third Function kits offer more flexibility. They can be used with any third function required implement and are compatible with a wide range of tractor makes and models
No additional hydraulic components are necessary to power the Lane Shark. You will need to have hydraulic hoses fabricated and installed in order to plumb your unit.
1. If WR Long Third Function, we recommend our C-Flow Kit for ease of installation. This comes with fittings, hoses, switch box, and a bulkhead mount all tailored specifically to your tractor.
2. For any other brand third function, we offer our switch kit for select tractors within the Kubota L Series, MX Series, M Series, John Deere 3 Series, and 5 Series. This includes fittings, hoses, and a switch box tailored specifically to your tractor.
3. You may fabricate and source your own hydraulic hoses and fittings to use with our switch box if purchased individually. Our switch box allows for continuous hydraulic flow with your electronic third function without having to manually hold down your third function toggle switch.

ALWAYS disconnect the hydraulic lines from the Lane Shark before any service or inspection is performed. Check the blade carrier and blades under the deck for any obstructions or any material wrapped around the rotating assembly and remove if discovered. Make sure the hydraulic quick connect couplers are clean and seated properly. Check all fasteners that they are secured properly, especially those associated with the rotating assembly. Check your tractor’s hydraulic fluid level and add the appropriate fluid if low. If the Lane Shark still fails to operate properly please call your local Lane Shark dealer or Lane Shark USA directly.
