The LS 3 model requires a tractor with a minimum rear wheel width of 55", a minimum dry weight of 2,000 lbs, and a hydraulic pump flow rate of 5.5 - 8.5 gallons per minute (GPM) The LS 2(4' model) also requires a minimum rear wheel width of 55", a minimum dry weight of 3,000 lbs, and the hydraulic pump flow rate should be between 8.5 - 20 GPM. When it comes to operating a Lane Shark Brush Cutter, the tractor's hydraulic pump flow (GPM) is often more crucial than its HP. For the LS 3 model, it's generally suited for tractors with 25-40 HP. More importantly, it requires a hydraulic pump flow rate of 5 to 8.5 GPM. On the other hand, the LS2 model is designed for tractors ranging from 40 HP to 100 HP, with a required pump flow rate of 8.5 GPM to 20 GPM. However, GPM is just one of the three key factors to consider when determining if your tractor is compatible with a Lane Shark Brush Cutter. Doing so not only presents a significant safety hazard, but it also voids the warranty of your Lane Shark. While having a cabbed tractor can add an extra layer of protection for the operator, it's not a mandatory requirement for using a Lane Shark Brush Cutter. The unique design of the Lane Shark ensures that the blade's counterclockwise rotation throws debris downwards and away from the operator when cutting in the vertical position and towards the 10/11 o'clock direction in the horizontal position. Despite this, we strongly recommend that operators wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times to ensure their safety while operating the Lane Shark Brush Cutter.

While your Lane Shark Brush Cutter will arrive fully assembled and ready for installation, please note that it does not come with the hydraulic components necessary to plumb the cutter to your tractor. It is essential to note that the return line of a Lane Shark Brush Cutter must never be plugged directly back into your 3rd function valve. This includes the rear remote valve. Improper plumbing of this kind will likely cause overheating issues, compromising the operation and lifespan of your equipment. If your tractor has a WR Long 3rd function, our Lane Shark C-Flow Kit is the ideal solution for setting up the return line correctly. For tractors equipped with any other brand of 3rd function, the return line should go directly to the tractor's sump. Diverter valves are not compatible with the Lane Shark. To power your Lane Shark, it is required to use a 3rd function valve. While rear remotes might seem like an alternative, we advise against their use because there's a risk that some loaders may lose priority. Ensuring correct and compatible hydraulic setup for your Lane Shark will support optimal functionality and longevity of the product.

No, the high capacity motor isn't inherently more powerful than the standard motor. Its design primarily caters to a higher hydraulic pump flow that your tractor may produce. The standard capacity is designed for a pump flow of 8.5 to 15 gpm, whereas the high capacity motor accommodates a pump flow range of 15 to 20 gpm. If you're unsure about which motor is required for your tractor, make use of our "Find Your Fit" tool. It will provide guidance on whether your tractor needs the high capacity motor to operate the Lane Shark Brush Cutter effectively.

Yes, you can. The Lane Shark and your rear Brush Hog use different power sources on your tractor. While the Lane Shark leverages the tractor's hydraulic system, the Brush Hog utilizes the tractor's power take-off (PTO).

We always recommend working through a Lane Shark dealer for your purchase to ensure correct installation and maintenance. You may purchase directly from Lane Shark if you are outside of an authorized dealer's territory.

Not necessarily, but our Switch Box is designed to work optimally with MOST 3rd function hydraulic setups. That said, certain configurations, such as systems with "stacked valves," could potentially result in hydraulic priority issues. These issues might affect the performance of the Lane Shark and result in a loss of loader function while the Lane Shark is operating. If your tractor employs a stacked valve setup, we can't guarantee that the loader will receive hydraulic flow priority over the Lane Shark when using a Switch Box. Before purchasing and installing, it's essential for customers to assess their specific tractor setup, considering factors such as stacked valve configurations. If you're unsure, our service department is always ready to assist you in determining your needs. For tractors with specific setups like these, we can offer an alternative solution: our 3rd Function C-Flow kits, which are designed to avoid losing loader priority issues. Although you may already have auxiliary hydraulics on your tractor, we no longer recommend connecting directly to rear remotes for your Lane Shark. While you don't strictly require one of our hydraulic kits if you already have auxiliary hydraulics, these kits can supply the essential components needed to install and operate your Lane Shark effectively and safely. Remember, regardless of how you arrange the hydraulic plumbing, it's absolutely crucial to ensure a proper return setup. Inadequate return setups could lead to overheating and other performance issues, so please make sure to follow all provided installation instructions or consult with a professional if you're uncertain.

For optimal performance of your Lane Shark, we no longer recommend plumbing directly to rear remotes as this can sometimes cause loader functions to lose priority. If you already have a 3rd Function setup, your requirements may vary based on the brand: 1. For those with a WR Long Brand 3rd Function, we recommend our C-Flow Kit. This kit is designed to work seamlessly with WR Long brand setups, ensuring efficient and smooth operation of your Lane Shark. 2. If you have a 3rd Function from a brand other than WR Long, our Switch Box would be the best solution. It allows you to power your Lane Shark effectively. 3. In case you do not have a 3rd Function on your tractor, you'll require our Full WR Long C-Flow 3rd Function Kit. This complete kit not only enables operation of your Lane Shark but also adds the 3rd Function capability to your tractor, enhancing its overall functionality. Remember, each tractor is unique and these recommendations might not be suitable for all. The necessary components to operate your Lane Shark depend on the brand of your third function: 1. WR Long Third Function: If you have a third function by WR Long, we recommend our C-Flow Kit. This kit is specially designed to integrate seamlessly with WR Long systems. It makes installation and the process of exchanging implements easier. 2. Other Brand Third Function: If your third function is from a brand other than WR Long, we offer a compatible Switch Kit. This kit works well with select tractors within the Kubota L Series, MX Series, M Series, John Deere 3 Series, and 5 Series. 3. Self-Sourced Hydraulic Components: If you prefer, you can source and fabricate your own hydraulic hoses and fittings for use with our standalone Switch Box. This box enables continuous hydraulic flow with your electronic third function without the need to manually hold down your third function toggle switch. Please remember that every tractor setup is unique and may require a slightly different approach. When in doubt, consult with our service department. They can provide personalized advice to ensure your Lane Shark operates efficiently and effectively.

Your Lane Shark will come with three serial number stickers. Your serial number should read “LS2-XXXX”. Use only the numerals and dash for the Customer Portal Registration: "20XX-XXXX". The serial number stickers can be found in the following locations: 1) On the front face of the backplate in the upper right corner; 2) On the spindle housing; 3) In front of the motor on top of the deck.

The tractor needs to be operated at minimum 540 PTO speed as designated on the tractor’s tachometer. For heavier use, we recommend full throttle.

ALWAYS disconnect the hydraulic lines from the Lane Shark before any service or inspection is performed. Check the blade carrier and blades under the deck for any obstructions or any material wrapped around the rotating assembly and remove if discovered. Make sure the hydraulic quick connect couplers are clean and seated properly. Check all fasteners that they are secured properly, especially those associated with the rotating assembly. Check your tractor’s hydraulic fluid level and add the appropriate fluid if low. If the Lane Shark still fails to operate properly please call your local Lane Shark dealer or Lane Shark USA directly.

Lane Shark isn’t running when you triple click the C-Flow Button on the joystick handle

• The Lane Shark runs when holding the left/front grapple button on the joystick handle
  *If Lane Shark does not come on, move to #1 Lane Shark will spin a half turn, or not spin at all once installed
• Hold down the grapple button, simultaneously triple click the c-flow switch button, and then release the grapple button. The Lane Shark stays active.
  *If the Lane Shark does not stay on, or still doesn’t start, move to steps to check the ground wire
• Move the power source for the handle from the seat safety switch to a keyed power source or battery positive. The Lane Shark should run successfully.
  *If the Lane Shark still does not activate with the triple click C-Flow switch, change ground location
• Move ground wire to battery negative

Once the switch box is installed, all of the lights will illuminate and cycle through on/off modes but it won’t power the Lane Shark

• Activate Lane Shark with toggle buttons on joystick
  *If Lane Shark does not come on, move to #1 Lane Shark will spin a half turn, or not spin at all once installed
• If Lane Shark activates with one of the toggle buttons on the joystick, determine which wire is activating that toggle button
• Check to see if the green wire from the switch box is connected to the wire activating that button that’s powering the Lane Shark
• If it is connected to a different wire than the one powering the Lane shark, switch wires to connect the green wire from the switch box to the wire powering the Lane Shark
  *If the Lane Shark still does not operate, check for bad ground
• Move ground wire to battery negative
• The unit sounds like it is deadheading. Move to #1 Lane Shark will spin a half turn, or not spin at all once installed

Unable to get the Lane Shark to spin when it has previously worked just fine

1. Check for bearing failure.
   • Disconnect whips from motor and plug them into one another.
   • Spin blade carrier.
     If it does not spin, the bearing has failed. Contact Lane Shark using information below.
2. Check quick connects to make sure they are securely connected and clear. Clear any debris and reconnect.
3. Check to see if the motor has failed.
   • Check for leaks.
     If leaks are present, move to #4 Leaking Motor.
   • Check if motor is seized.
     • Remove motor from unit with lines still connected.
     • “Power on” the motor by tapping the grapple button.
       • Lines jump but motor isn’t turning - remove quick connect from return line and place in bucket.
         • Fluid moves through the motor but it isn’t turning - the motor has failed. Contact Lane Shark using information below.
         • Fluid does not move through motor - check pressure line.
           • Remove pressure line from motor and place in bucket, and “power on” by tapping the grapple toggle.
             • Fluid moves through pressure line - the motor has failed. Contact Lane Shark using information below.
               If no fluid moves through pressure line, move to #1 Lane Shark will spin a half turn, or not spin at all once installed.
     • Fluid moves through the motor and the motor spins. Check the shaft adapter (Only applicable to LS3, serial numbers 1200-1500).
       • Shaft adapter has disengaged. Contact Lane Shark using information below.
         If shaft adapter is in correct place, move to #2 C-Flow Button Flashing Once or Dimming After Triple Click and Lane Shark Does Not Come On OR #3 Lane Shark Switch Box comes on, but Lane Shark is not spinning.
